South Sudan Launches National Association of Sign Language Interpreters to Advance Inclusion and Accessibility

Congratulations to the South Sudan National Association of Sign Language Interpreters (SSNASLI) on its Official Launch!

CBR Africa Network (CAN) proudly celebrates the launch of the South Sudan National Association of Sign Language Interpreters (SSNASLI), a significant milestone in advancing inclusion, accessibility, and equal communication rights for Deaf persons in South Sudan.

The association was officially launched in Juba under the theme:

“Breaking Communication Barriers: Promoting Inclusion Through Sign Language Interpretation in South Sudan.”

The establishment of SSNASLI marks an important step towards strengthening professional sign language interpretation services, promoting communication accessibility, and ensuring that Deaf persons can fully participate in education, healthcare, justice, employment, and all aspects of community life.

We commend the leadership of SSNASLI, the Deaf community, government representatives, development partners, and all stakeholders who contributed to this achievement. The association’s commitment to training, professional standards, certification, and advocacy will play a critical role in advancing the rights and inclusion of Deaf persons across South Sudan.

At CAN, we believe that communication is a fundamental human right and that inclusive societies can only be achieved when everyone has equal access to information and services.

We look forward to supporting and collaborating with SSNASLI in promoting disability inclusion and accessibility across Africa.
