CBR Africa Network Honors Professor Sally Hartley at Hybrid Memorial Lecture, Reaffirming Commitment to CBR/CBID Legacy
CBR Africa Network (CAN) successfully held a hybrid memorial lecture today in honour of the late Professor Sally Hartley, a distinguished champion of Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) and Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID).
The event brought together participants from across Africa and beyond, reflecting the far-reaching impact of Professor Hartley’s work and the continued relevance of her legacy in advancing inclusive development.
We were honoured by the presence of our long-standing partner and donor, CP Trust, whose continued support plays a vital role in strengthening CAN’s work in research, capacity building, advocacy, and community engagement.
In remembering Professor Hartley, the following commitments were reaffirmed:
• Strengthening capacity through training in CBR/CBID
• Advancing research and community-based outreach
• Promoting advocacy for inclusive and disability-responsive practices
• Enhancing knowledge and experience sharing within the CBR/CBID community
Her vision continues to inspire collective efforts toward more inclusive, equitable, and empowered communities. CAN remains committed to carrying forward her legacy through meaningful action, collaboration, and partnerships.
