CAN Country Representatives Orientation Successfully Concludes Two days of learning, connection, collaboration and renewed commitment to advancing disability inclusion across Africa!
The CBR Africa Network (CAN) successfully concluded its two-day Country Representatives Orientation, held from 12–13 August 2026. The orientation brought together newly selected CAN Country Representatives to strengthen their understanding of CAN’s mandate, strategic direction, roles and responsibilities, and their contribution to strengthening collaboration across Africa.
The two-day sessions provided an opportunity for Country Representatives to engage in meaningful discussions, share experiences, clarify expectations and explore practical approaches to working together to advance CAN’s mission and the Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) and Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID) movement.
Strengthening Regional Communication and Collaboration
One of the key outcomes of the orientation is the commitment of Country Representatives to join and actively engage in regional communication platforms across the five African regions represented by CAN’s International Advisory Board (IAB).
These platforms will serve as spaces for:
🔹 Strengthening communication and information sharing within regions;
🔹 Promoting networking, peer learning and experience sharing;
🔹 Sharing CBR/CBID practices, opportunities and resources;
🔹 Strengthening coordination and collaboration at country and regional levels; and
🔹 Supporting collective efforts to advance CAN’s mandate and strategic priorities.
Through these regional platforms, CAN seeks to build stronger connections among Country Representatives, facilitate continuous learning and communication, and foster a more coordinated, connected and responsive network across the continent.
CAN Country Representatives Orientation
CAN extends its appreciation to all Country Representatives, International Advisory Board members, facilitators and the Secretariat for their active participation, commitment and valuable contributions to the success of the orientation.
The orientation marks not an end, but the beginning of a stronger journey of collaboration and collective action. Together, we are strengthening the CBR and CBID movement and advancing disability inclusion across Africa.
