Welcome to your master guide to the 16th Session of the Conference of States Parties (CoSP16) to the CRPD!

The 16th session of the Conference of States Parties (CoSP) to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) will take place from Tuesday, June 13th to Thursday, June 15th at the UN headquarters in New York.

A Civil Society Forum, preceding the CoSP, will be held on Monday, June 12th.

The CoSP16 will be held largely in person, with UN WEB TV webcasting the main proceedings.

  • 12 June 2023: In-person meeting of the Civil Society Forum
  • 13 June 2023: In-person meetings: Opening of the conference and matters related to the implementation of the Convention, General Debate
  • 14 and 15 June 2022: In-person meetings: roundtable discussions, interactive dialogue with the UN system, and the closing.

Information on pass pickup

Please note that you can collect your event passes one day prior to your event at the registration desk located at the United Nations Pass and ID office, 320 East 45th Street (between 1st and 2nd Avenue).

The registration hours for the desk are as follows:

Sunday 11 June | 1 PM to 4 PM

Monday 12 June | 8 AM to 1 PM

Tuesday 13 June | 8 AM to 1 PM

Wednesday 14 June | 9 AM to 1 PM

Informal Civil Society Briefing

The International Disability Alliance is pleased to invite civil society representatives who are attending the 16th CoSP to attend an informal briefing.📅When: Sunday, 11 June 2023

Civil Society Forum

The Civil Society Coordination Mechanism, facilitated by International Disability Alliance, is hosting the Civil Society Forum, as an addition to the 16th Session of the Conference of States Parties (CoSP) to the CRPD, to amplify the voice and facilitate active participation.

Overall aims of the Civil Society Forum

  • Share experiences of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) on the implementation of the CRPD
  • Highlight what is working and what is not working; what are new issues that persons with disabilities are facing
  • Expectations of persons with disabilities when world leaders talk about speeding up SDGs implementation at the SDGs Summit in September 2023 and plan for future challenges at the Summit of the Future in 2024

📩 Registration for the CoSP will automatically register delegates to the Civil Society Forum

 

The forum will be presented in two sessions:

The overarching theme of the conference is: Harmonizing national policies and strategies with the CRPD: achievements and challenges.

  • Sub-theme 1: Ensuring equal access to and accessibility of sexual and reproductive health services for persons with disabilities.
  • Sub-theme 2: Digital accessibility for persons with disabilities.
  • Sub-theme 3: Reaching the underrepresented groups of persons with disabilities.
