The Medical Research Council/Uganda Virus Research Institute and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (MRC/UVRI & LSHTM) Uganda Research Unit are making significant strides in disability research and training.

Prof Moffat Nyirenda, the Director MRC/UVRI & LSHTM, revealed this during the Disability Inclusive Health Research Seminar and Open Day held at their head offices in Entebbe on Friday.

“This program focuses on disability research and training in Uganda, aiming to improve access to services and quality of life for people with disabilities through collaborative efforts,” Prof. Nyirenda said.

He highlighted the unit’s 35-year history of tackling health challenges, including HIV and non-communicable diseases. “We have research on disability, it’s not just a project, it’s a program of work,” he emphasized.
