The Eighth Annual Disability Summit and Careers Expo

Previously known as the Hope-Mandeville Disability Careers Expo, the 2019 Disability Summit and Career Expo, rolled out by Creative Space Media was the second of its kind and magnitude. Combining a career expo and numerous demonstrations, the two-day event took place on 11 and 12 April 2019 at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg.

We are delighted to announce that this year’s summit exceeded all expectations, making it the most successful to date. It brought together more than 1200 disabled Grade 10, 11 and 12 learners from schools in and around Gauteng and university graduates from different institutions. More than 60 SMEs, various HR professionals and leading South African corporates were present on both days. There were a number of university presentations, sport activities, speeches, entertainment and education features on the day.

The event aims to provide possible employment opportunities to learners, graduates and unemployed individuals. It allows SMEs a platform to showcase their businesses.

The demo and conference line-up included insightful motivational talks, discussions intended to uplift and inspire as well as featured edutainment activations. A critical topic aimed at corporates included ways to accommodate persons with disabilities in the workplace, and a breakdown of employee rights.
