Persons with disabilities in a just transition to a low-carbon economy

The world of work is intrinsically linked to the natural environment and climate change.

1 Global temperature rise and extreme weather are lessening productivity and putting the health of many workers at risk.

2 Jobs in multiple sectors such as agriculture, forestry, fisheries and tourism are being destroyed. In many instances, working conditions are being negatively impacted from extreme weather events such as heat stress.

3 Efforts are being ramped up to meet the long-term goal of the Paris Agreement to keep the increase in global average temperature to less than 2 degrees centigrade above pre-industrial levels. Transitioning to a more sustainable and low-carbon economy is one of the most significant actions countries can take towards this goal.
